Canva Strengthens Its Presence in India with Localized Content, AI Tools, and Education Initiatives

Canva, the global online design platform, is intensifying its focus on India, its fourth-largest market worldwide. With 666 million designs created in the country in 2024 alone, Canva is enhancing its platform with localized content, AI-driven tools, and deeper engagement in the education sector.

India has become a key market for Canva, boasting a vibrant user community that includes over 240,000 freelancers, 11,000+ teachers on Facebook, and more than 120 content creators. The most popular design categories among Indian users include presentations, printables, and social media templates, with over 139 million presentations created on the platform in 2024.

Additionally, India ranks among the top three global markets for Canva Video and Canva Websites, while the Photo Background Remover remains the most frequently used AI feature.

Enhancing Localized Content for Indian Users

As part of its 2025 expansion strategy, Canva is introducing more India-specific templates and design elements to better cater to local users. Key additions include:

  • WhatsApp templates to enhance everyday communication.
  • Culturally relevant designs for festivals, religious events, milestones, small businesses, and social causes.
  • A localized homepage in regional languages to improve accessibility for Indian users.
  • Trending templates aligned with Indian seasonal events such as Republic Day, Lohri, and the wedding season.

AI Transforming India’s Digital Workspace

Findings from Canva’s CIO Survey 2024 highlight the growing impact of AI in India:

  • 93% of Indian CIOs plan to increase AI investments in 2024.
  • 92% believe AI significantly boosts workplace efficiency.
  • 89% of businesses have used AI-powered tools for visual content creation.

AI is also reshaping hiring trends, making digital portfolios a necessity. The survey reveals:

  • 83% of hiring managers prefer candidates with interactive digital portfolios.
  • 87% of job seekers have used generative AI to craft or refine resumes.

Expanding Canva for Education in India

Canva is strengthening its Canva for Education initiative, offering free design tools to K-12 teachers, students, and eligible schools. Currently, tens of thousands of Indian educators and students use Canva to enhance creativity and learning.

In 2025, Canva will expand partnerships with Indian state education departments to increase adoption in classrooms, ensuring more students and teachers benefit from its visual communication tools.

Hindi-Language Website & Flexible Pricing Plans

To improve accessibility, Canva will officially launch its Hindi-language website in the coming months. Developed by local experts, this initiative aims to empower millions of Hindi-speaking users, educators, and businesses, making visual communication more seamless.

Understanding the diverse needs of Indian users, Canva has also introduced flexible pricing plans, including:

  • One-day plan: ₹69
  • Seven-day plan: ₹149
