Mumbai’s iconic sea-facing bungalow, Mannat, home to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is set to undergo a major renovation and expansion. The property, which attracts hundreds of fans daily hoping to catch a glimpse of the actor, will soon be a construction site as work begins this May. For nearly two years, visitors will no longer see Khan at his famed residence but instead witness extensive construction activities.
During the renovation period, Shah Rukh Khan and his family will temporarily relocate to Pali Hill in Bandra. According to sources, the actor has rented four floors of a luxurious apartment owned by filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani. Last week, Khan’s production company, Red Chillies Entertainment, finalized a lease agreement with Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshika Deshmukh, Vashu Bhagnani’s children and co-owners of the property named Puja Casa.
While the new residence may not match the grandeur of Mannat, it is spacious enough to accommodate Khan’s security team and staff, as per a source familiar with the building’s design. Reports suggest the actor will pay ₹24 lakh per month for the four floors.
Mannat’s Expansion Plans
The renovation follows Gauri Khan’s application to the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) in November last year, seeking approval to add two additional floors to Mannat’s annexe. This expansion is made possible by a 2019 amendment to the Floor Space Index rules under the Development Control and Promotion Regulation (DCPR), which has enabled several property owners in Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) areas to expand their homes.
Neither Shah Rukh Khan’s manager, Pooja Dadlani, nor Jackky Bhagnani has commented on the development despite multiple inquiries.
For now, fans will have to wait a little longer to see their beloved superstar back at Mannat. However, the highly anticipated renovation is expected to make the iconic bungalow even more spectacular.
