Mahindra Unveils BE 6e and XEV 9e Electric SUVs, Debuting New BE and XEV Brands on November 26

Mahindra & Mahindra, a leading name in the Indian automotive industry, has announced the debut of two new electric vehicle brands, BE and XEV, with their flagship models set to launch on November 26, 2024. The BE 6e will be the first release under the BE brand, while the XEV 9e will serve as the inaugural model for the XEV brand, marking a pivotal moment in Mahindra’s transition toward electric mobility.

Both electric SUVs are based on Mahindra’s innovative INGLO architecture, which integrates advanced electric components from Volkswagen's Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) and unified cell technology. This strategic partnership with Volkswagen, announced earlier this year, makes Mahindra the first external automaker to adopt Volkswagen's unified cell concept, central to Volkswagen’s battery strategy. This agreement is set to run for several years and will see the supply of approximately 50 GWh in electric components and unified cells, underscoring a significant leap in Mahindra’s electric vehicle ambitions.

The INGLO platform’s MEB-based design brings Mahindra’s EV offerings to the forefront of global standards. The MEB platform is a modular electric architecture used by Volkswagen Group brands such as Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, and Seat/Cupra, as well as by external partners, including Ford. This integration will allow Mahindra to leverage cutting-edge EV technology to deliver advanced electric models tailored to the Indian market.

Mahindra’s existing EV lineup includes the XUV400 electric SUV, and the company is already a dominant force in India’s SUV market, with popular models such as the Bolero, Thar, Scorpio, and XUV series. The company’s October 2024 record-breaking domestic SUV sales of 54,504 units underscore its strong position in the market.

Mahindra’s foray into electric mobility with the BE 6e and XEV 9e signals its commitment to a sustainable future and positions it as a key player in India’s EV landscape. As the automotive industry moves toward cleaner, electric alternatives, Mahindra is poised to meet this demand with its pioneering products.
