A highly requested feature in AI models is memory. This allows the AI to retain information about you, so you don’t need to repeat it with each interaction. It can remember details such as your name, birthday, occupation, or even your preferences for how it should respond.
Gemini has
launched a new feature enabling it to remember users' preferences and
interests. This enhancement allows users to ask the AI chatbot to retain
specific personal details, which will shape its future responses. Currently,
this feature is exclusively available to premium members via the Gemini chatbot
app and website.
A highly
desired feature in AI models is memory. This allows the AI to retain details
about you, so you don’t need to repeat them in every interaction. It can
remember things like your name, birthday, profession, or preferred
communication style. Without memory, chatbots lack the continuity that makes
them feel like genuine helpers or companions, as every conversation begins
anew.
Experts
recently identified this limitation in artificial intelligence and began
working on a feature to address it. Earlier this year, OpenAI updated ChatGPT
with a similar capability. Other major companies, including Microsoft and
Anthropic, also offer comparable features in their chatbots.
The tech
giant has unveiled a new feature called "Saved Info," highlighted on
its updates page. This feature allows users to direct Gemini to remember their
preferences and interests. Users can manually add details on the Saved Info
page or simply say "Remember" or "Do not forget" before
sharing the information.
The company
has not clarified whether the AI will learn from the data provided via Saved
Info or if it merely has access to it. Additionally, it remains uncertain
whether deleting data from Saved Info also removes it from Google’s servers. At
present, this feature is available in English for Gemini Advanced subscribers.
The subscription is offered through the Google One AI Premium Plan, which is a
noteworthy detail.
