Vikas Swami,
a yoga practitioner from Meerut, has made history by lifting 125 kg using his
teeth for an astonishing 35.57 seconds, securing a place in the Guinness World
Records. This remarkable feat took place in Milan, Italy, on February 14, with
the assistance of his two sons. His achievement has gained international
recognition, solidifying his status among the elite record holders.
Swami’s
journey to this record began with his previous performance on India’s Got
Talent in 2023, where he lifted 80 kg using the same technique. Reflecting
on the challenge, Swami shared, “Breaking this record was incredibly tough. The
time limit posed a significant challenge. During our first attempt, we could
only hold the weight for 25 seconds. However, in the second attempt, we were
able to hold it for 35.57 seconds.”
His sons,
Anmol Swami (16) and Aditya Swami (10), played a crucial role in assisting
their father in achieving this milestone. Their combined efforts and teamwork
earned them recognition alongside Swami. The family’s dedication to excellence
led to their Guinness World Record certification, marking a significant moment
in their lives.
Swami takes
immense pride in his accomplishment, calling it not just a personal triumph but
a moment of pride for his entire region and the country. However, despite his
record-breaking feat, his return home was bittersweet. He voiced his
frustration over the absence of recognition and support from the government and
elected representatives.
“So far, the
government has not provided us with any assistance. Athletes who win medals in
other sports are rewarded with awards and even government jobs, but we haven’t
received a single penny. Forget about ministers, even MPs and MLAs haven’t
acknowledged our achievements. Only our village community has celebrated and
honored us,” Swami expressed with disappointment.
When asked
about the secret behind his extraordinary strength, Swami initially remained
reserved, revealing only that he applies a special oil before sleeping, which
he believes enhances his abilities. He credited yoga as the primary factor in
his strength and success.
"I
don't use toothpaste or any artificial products for my teeth. Yoga provides the
strength to overcome even the most serious illnesses," he emphasized.
Swami’s
journey to this achievement was filled with hardships. In 2010, he was involved
in a serious accident on Sardhana Road in Meerut while working as a school bus
driver, which led to considerable memory loss. His recovery was long and
challenging, requiring extensive treatment both at home and in the hospital.
During this
difficult period, he turned to yoga as a means of rebuilding his life. His
dedication to yoga not only helped him recover but also propelled him toward
his world record achievement.
“I met with
an accident and lost my memory. It was a difficult phase, but yoga became my
way of life. It helped me heal and chase my dreams,” Swami recalled.
Beyond his
personal accomplishments, Swami has high aspirations for his children. “I want
my children to achieve success and carve out their own unique identities.
Today, our global recognition is a result of yoga. We will continue to make
India proud on the world stage,” he said with unwavering determination.
With 29
awards to their name, Swami and his sons are committed to continuing their
journey in breaking records and excelling in the field of yoga. Their
relentless dedication and perseverance have positioned them as a source of
inspiration for many, demonstrating that with resilience and passion, anything
is possible.
Their story
is a testament to the power of will and the strength of family, proving that
even in the face of adversity, great achievements can be realized through
unwavering commitment and hard work.
