Hyderabad FC
pulled off a remarkable comeback to defeat Kerala Blasters 2-1 in a thrilling
Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 match on Thursday at the Jawaharlal Nehru
Stadium in Kochi. Andrei Alba emerged as the hero for Hyderabad, scoring twice
to overturn a 0-1 deficit and secure victory for his side.
Jesus
Jimenez opened the scoring for Kerala Blasters in the 13th minute, giving them
an early lead. The home team started aggressively, capitalizing on their
momentum. However, they lost their advantage just before half-time, as Alba
scored in the 43rd minute to level the score. He then struck again in the
second half, providing Hyderabad with a lead that ultimately sealed their
second win of the season.
For Kerala
Blasters, this defeat marks their third consecutive loss, raising concerns for
the team. Coach Mikael Stahre, facing the absence of Kwame Peprah due to
suspension and Noah Sadaoui’s lack of full fitness, turned to young talents
Mohammed Aimen and Korou Singh on the wings. Aimen made an instant impact,
posing a constant threat to Hyderabad’s defense with his direct play and
energetic runs. Korou Singh, at 17 years and 340 days old, made ISL history as
the youngest player to record an assist, setting up the Blasters' goal. His
maturity and skillful counter-attacks offered a bright spot for the hosts.
Hyderabad’s
Andrei Alba stood out as a key player, not only with his two goals but also
with three clearances and two interceptions, successfully completing 24 of his
37 passes.
Looking
ahead, Kerala Blasters will face Chennaiyin FC at home on November 24 after the
international break, while Hyderabad FC is set to host Odisha FC on November
25.
