Cristiano Ronaldo Acknowledges Messi's Popularity in Ongoing Best Player Debate

Cristiano Ronaldo, one of football's all-time greats, has been a dominant force in the sport for over a decade. Now playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, his rivalry with Lionel Messi continues to spark heated debates among fans about who truly stands as the better player. For the first time, Ronaldo has shared his thoughts on the Messi vs. Ronaldo debate—and he doesn’t shy away from making bold claims about his own legacy.

While many fans lean toward Messi, Pelé, or Maradona in the "greatest of all time" conversation, Ronaldo is unwavering in his belief in his own superiority.

"I believe I am the most versatile football player of all time. People might prefer Messi, Maradona, or Pelé, and I respect that, but I’m the most complete," Ronaldo declared in an exclusive interview with Spanish network LaSexta TV.

Ronaldo is unequivocal about his self-confidence, firmly stating that he is the greatest footballer in history. "I’m the best player in football history. I haven’t seen anyone better than me, and I’m speaking from the heart," he said passionately.

Despite their fierce rivalry over the years, Ronaldo insists that he and Messi have always maintained a positive relationship. The two legends have shared the spotlight for 15 years, earning countless accolades, and Ronaldo looks back fondly on their interactions.

"I’ve never had a bad relationship with Messi. We’ve shared 15 years of awards, and we’ve always gotten along well. I even used to translate English for him, which was really funny," Ronaldo recalled.

He also highlighted the mutual respect between them: "He defended his club, and I defended mine. He represented his national team, and I represented mine. I think we pushed each other. There were years when he wanted to win everything, and so did I. It was a healthy competition," Ronaldo added.

When asked if he considers himself the greatest player in history, Ronaldo pointed to his goal-scoring record as a key factor. "What does a goalscorer mean? It’s someone who puts the ball in the net," he explained.

Beyond his remarkable goal-scoring ability, Ronaldo emphasized his all-around skills on the pitch. "I consider myself the most well-rounded player to have ever existed." I do everything in football. I’m strong in the air, I take good free kicks, I’m effective with both feet, I’m physically strong, I create chances..." he said, detailing his versatile playing style.

Ronaldo is convinced that no one has ever surpassed him in the sport. "I truly believe that. I haven’t seen anyone better than me. I’m telling you this from the heart," he concluded with unwavering confidence.
