Animesh
Chouhan, an IIT Kharagpur student from Bengaluru, has created an AI tool called
RotiChecker.ai, designed to assess the roundness of a roti. The tool
analyzes the shape and size of a roti, providing a percentage score for
accuracy. On January 31, Chouhan demonstrated its capabilities, showcasing a 91%
roundness score in a viral social media post.
Unexpectedly,
his creation gained immense traction online, catching the attention of
investors. Chouhan even shared a Google Trends screenshot showing a
surge in searches for related AI tools like Dosa Checker and Chai
Colour Checker. What started as a lighthearted experiment in his free time
soon turned into a potential business venture. Seizing the opportunity, he
announced his search for investors, offering 10% equity in exchange for
funding to secure the domain name.
To increase
engagement, Chouhan later rebranded his tool as RotiMeter.ai, a
move that triggered mixed reactions. While many lauded his creativity, others
criticized the idea as trivial or even controversial. Some users dismissed it
as unnecessary, questioning its relevance, while others debated its societal
implications. One user found the tool humorous yet insignificant, while
another countered accusations of misogyny, arguing that assumptions about
gender roles reflected personal biases rather than the tool itself.
Beyond shape
accuracy, skeptics pointed out that roti thickness plays a bigger role
in taste, questioning whether the tool addressed a real problem. Comments like “Never
understood this North Indian obsession with perfect round rotis” and “China
has DeepSeek, and we have RotiChecker.ai” further fueled the debate.
Despite the
mixed reactions, the tool continues to stir curiosity and conversation. In a
world where AI is revolutionizing industries like technology,
healthcare, and business, it is now making its way into content creation—and
even the kitchen. From plagiarism checkers to grammar tools, AI helps
streamline tasks. With RotiChecker.ai, the art of making the perfect roti
has now entered the AI era.
