Chhapra, Bihar – From battling
depression after missing out on IIT admission to building a ₹10 crore company,
Abhishek Kumar’s entrepreneurial journey is nothing short of inspiring. The
founder of HI PRO TECH, a robotics and drone manufacturing company,
started his business with just ₹10,500 saved from his pocket money. Today, the
company operates in 17 cities across India and internationally,
with plans to expand into Canada and the USA by April 2025.
Overcoming
Hardships to Build a Business
Abhishek, the son of Rajnath Rai, who
worked on contract in the tourism department, faced financial struggles while
growing up. His family lived in a rented two-room home, and his father dreamed
of seeing him as an IIT engineer. However, after failing to secure
admission, Abhishek battled emotional turmoil before enrolling in an
engineering program in Kolkata’s Techno India college.
Determined to create something of his
own, he saved ₹10,500 and built his first robot, which received
widespread appreciation. Seeing the limited career prospects in traditional
jobs, he took the bold step of starting a business in 2017, despite
financial hardships and skepticism from friends and family.
Breaking Barriers
and Building a Name
In the initial days, Abhishek
struggled to gain recognition. School guards refused him entry due
to his appearance, and language barriers in English-medium institutions
posed challenges. However, he adapted, hired skilled marketing
professionals, and refined his approach.
His perseverance paid off, and
today HI PRO TECH supplies drones and robots to IIT Madras, IIT Delhi,
the Indian Army, Bihar’s Industry & Education Departments, and the MSME
sector. The company has developed over 100 types of drones and
robots, including:
- High-speed drones capable of flying at 150 km/h while
carrying payloads.
- Indigenous
missile-integrated drones.
- Firefighting
robots for rapid response to forest
fires.
- Smart home
automation and parking robots.
- Global Expansion
on the Horizon
Currently operating in cities
like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Noida, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Abu
Dhabi, HI PRO TECH is preparing to expand into the USA and Canada
by April 2025. The company is also conducting robotics and drone
education programs in schools, empowering the next generation of
innovators.
A Message of
Inspiration
Looking back, Abhishek says, “The
IIT I once dreamed of joining now collaborates with my company. The people who
once doubted me now approach me for jobs.”
From a humble background to a
thriving global business, his story proves that resilience, innovation, and
determination can turn adversity into achievement.
